The Peter Pan Cooperative Nursery School is a play-based parent cooperative located in Oakland, California. Since 1947, we have been providing a community, a neighborhood, and an extended family in which parents and children can grow and learn together in a diverse, nurturing, and flexible environment.
Peter Pan lives in "Maxwell House," located on the grounds of Maxwell Park at 4618 Allendale Avenue, east of High Street in Oakland (not far from Mills College). We are licensed for children from 2 to 6 years of age (children do not have to be toilet trained), and have a ratio of four children to each adult. We follow the OUSD school calendar and holidays, with a school day that begins at nine and ends at noon. An optional PM program is available from noon to 2:45.

Peter Pan is a non-profit, parent-run organization affiliated with the California Council of Parent Participation Nursery Schools. We welcome families of diverse racial, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

Sign Up for a Spring Tour
The enrollment process for the 2012-2013 school year is beginning now! We'll be hosting school tours during the month of February. Please note that tours are for parents only (no kids, please) and that couples should sign up individually so that we know exactly how many are attending. Our space is limited, and we do sometimes have to turn away those who come in a group without registering beforehand. We look forward to seeing you!
For more information about applying to Peter Pan, please see our enrollment page.
Thank You to Our Donors
We'd like to say "thank you!" to the local businesses that have donated services and items for our spring raffle. A Great Good Place for Books has contributed a gift card. Please see our full list of prizes and donors here—and to buy raffle tickets, see any Peter Pan member!
